The Case of the Missing Cupcake

One sunny afternoon, Detective Danny was sitting in his treehouse, reading a mystery book. Suddenly, his best friend, Lily, ran up the ladder, looking worried.

“Danny, you have to help me!” she exclaimed. “My cupcake is missing!”

Detective Danny grabbed his magnifying glass and followed Lily to her house. In the kitchen, there was a plate with five cupcakes, but one spot was empty.

“Tell me what happened,” Danny said.

“I made six cupcakes,” Lily explained. “I left them on the table to cool. When I came back, one was gone!”

Danny looked around the kitchen. He saw crumbs on the floor and a little trail leading out the door.

“Let’s follow these crumbs,” Danny suggested.

They followed the crumb trail through the house and into the backyard. There, they found Lily’s little brother, Timmy, sitting under a tree with chocolate all over his face.

“Timmy, did you take the cupcake?” Danny asked.

Timmy looked guilty. “I’m sorry! I couldn’t resist. They smelled so good!”

Lily sighed but then smiled. “It’s okay, Timmy. Next time, just ask.”

Timmy nodded, and Danny patted him on the back. “Mystery solved!”

Lily thanked Danny, and they all went back to the kitchen to enjoy the remaining cupcakes together. Detective Danny was happy to have helped his friend and solved another mystery.
